1. NSW Cricket Umpires and Scorers Association (NSWCUSA) plans to run a course in Western Zone each off-season. These would normally be scheduled by the end of April at the start of each off-season. Would you like to host a course in your town?
The Laws of Cricket course is a module in the Level 2 (representative) umpire accreditation programme. The course would be delivered by NSWCUSA umpire trainers and would run in the off-season on a Saturday (9-5) and Sunday (9-2:30), with an assessment at the end of the course. The charge for the course would be around $40 (2016 cost) per head, including lunch, a Law book and all training materials.
2. Current planned course(s):
Courses generally run during each off-season.
4. Attempt the exam on-line. Before you do that, I suggest you read the laws of cricket and email wzoneumps@gmail.com any questions you would like clarified before attempting the exam. The cost of the on-line exam is $15 for each attempt. Once you pass, you'll get $15 (or $30 or $45) off your NSWCUSA membership fee of $55. Go to http://www.the-ccusa.co.uk/Laws.pdf (this highlights the most recent changes) or use http://www.lords.org/mcc/laws-of-cricket/laws/ (clicking on "browse laws" brings up a complete list). Read the spirit of cricket and the 42 laws. To attempt the online exam, go to http://nswcusamembers.cricketnsw.com.tmp.anchor.net.au/member/ and choose prospective member sign up.
"There is a charge of $15.00 imposed for each attempt which must be paid by credit card. The good news is that should you be successful and decide to join our Association as a member, the charge will be reimbursed up to a maximum of $45.00. On successful completion of the examination you will be provided with all the necessary information about applying for membership and we will happily welcome you on board at one of our regular Monthly Meetings held throughout the year.
However, before you make too many attempts at the examination we recommend that you attend one of our training courses to obtain a complete understanding of the why's and wherefore's of umpiring.
